(Male House) Finch (AuroraHDR, Graphic Novel filter)

Here's another finch, I believe a house finch - a male this time, with the blue/purple fringing in the color image, which is nicely absent in the BW version. Thanks for stopping by and looking at my pictures! :)

Finch on the Evergreen (AuroraHDR, Graphic Novel filter)

I believe this is a house finch, either a female or an immature male. Shooting into the sky, my camera picked up all of the dust spots, and I was able to erase some (most?) of them on the BW Graphic Novel filter. Also, you can sort of see a little bit of the blue/purple fringe on the color image that you sometimes get shooting something HDR with a sky background, which you don't really see at all in the BW image. Thanks for stopping by and looking at my pictures! :)

Chickadee on a Wet Deck (Graphic Novel filter)

This is a redo of an old tonemapped image that I processed years ago with Photomatix. These are the recent Graphic Novel filter edits of that image. Thanks for stopping by and looking at my pictures! :)

Thrush in the Grass (AuroraHDR, Graphic Novel filter)

I did a little work on this thrush image from a couple of years ago. I don't know if there's a technical name for some of the weirdness that I was getting from my camera, seen in the grass in the upper part of the image, but... it's definitely there. It disappeared a little bit in my graphic novel filter edit in the second image, but you can still see some of it there. I could possibly have fixed the image by cropping it further, or on the graphic novel version, by employing my eraser. Thanks for stopping by and looking at my pictures! :)

Chipping Sparrow in the Trees, Shooting the Breeze (AuroraHDR, Graphic Novel filter)

Chipping sparrow in the trees,
Shooting the breeze,
Flying high in the sky,
Very high.
My, oh my.

Just kidding. Here is my chipping sparrow photo, processed in HDR on Aurora, and then with the Graphic Novel filter on Photoshop Elements. Thanks for stopping by and looking at my pictures! :)

It's nice to see the robins back (AuroraHDR, Graphic Novel filter)

It's nice to see that the robins are back. Now, as the old-timers used to say it, it only has to snow on them three times before spring officially arrives. (According to the ground hog, that should all be done somewhere mid-March... oops.)

Here's a picture from a few years ago, processed recently with Aurora HDR and Photoshop Elements. Thanks for stopping by!

Comparing Different Graphic Novel version of a Tree Blossom Photo (AuroraHDR, Photoshop Elements)

I am posting a number of images today for comparison purposes. I have a collection of "crab apple blossom" photos (at least, that's what I think they are.) They're one of the delightful things that I find in my area sometime between May and June, but they only last for about a week. (A good rain storm usually takes all of the petals down fairly quickly after they've flowered.)

The first image here is the Aurora HDR, where the HDR process has especially brought out the cloudy background.

As I touched the image up in Photoshop Elements, it reminded me of the colors that were common in postcards from back in... the 1940s? 50s?

I also processed the image with the Graphic Novel filter. Twice. The first Graphic Novel filter preset that I used was the "Painted Gray" option, edited somewhat after the fact.

I layered the HDR color image into the Graphic Novel image above, and it looks fairly similar to the regular color image (as edited).

I also applied the Graphic Novel filter a second time, this time using the "Twisted Plot" preset. I liked what it did with the blacks and whites in this... black and white image.

I did not at all like what happened when I layered the color into the second graphic novel image. The colors seem... smudgy, particularly where it was layered together with the parts of the image above that were black.

Those are my pictures for today. Thanks for stopping by!

Male Cardinal (Graphic Novel filter)

I like what the Graphic Novel filter was able to do with this image. The third image below was the one I originally posted a few years ago, processing the image with the Dry Brush filter from Photoshop Elements. The Graphic Novel filter added some definition to an otherwise... undefined image.

Thanks for stopping by and looking at my pictures! :)

Blue Jay with Colorful Foliage in the Background (Graphic Novel filter)

I really liked this blue jay image from a couple of years ago and decided to give it a try in the Graphic Novel filter. Thanks for stopping by and looking at my pictures! :)

Chickadee Checking Out Birdseed (AuroraHDR, Graphic Novel filter)

Here are two graphic novel images that I processed from an HDR image that I made with AuroraHDR. Thanks for stopping by and looking at my pictures! :)

"Red" Finch (Graphic Novel filter)

Once again, I like what the Graphic Novel filter does with smaller images. This red-colored finch was a little bit blurry sitting in the blurry branches (notice the theme, here). I tried to doctor this image up before, using the Dry Brush filter. I like how it turned out using the Graphic Novel filter. Thanks for stopping by and looking at my pictures! :)

Graphic Novel Chickadee on the Deck

Here is another image redo. I took the Photomatix image that I made previously and applied the Graphic Novel filter from Photoshop Elements. I especially like how the black and white version turned out.

Thanks for stopping by and looking at my pictures! :)

Cat in the Grass, Napping (AuroraHDR, Graphic Novel filter)

This image was seriously cropped, but I think that I like how smaller images tend to turn out in the Graphic Novel filter. I like how there seems to be a stronger focus on the Graphic Novel details when you can look at an image close-up. Thanks for stopping by and looking at my pictures! :)

Puffy Chipping Sparrow (AuroraHDR, Graphic Novel filter)

I re-processed this image with AuroraHDR, and then I processed the image with the Graphic Novel filter from Photoshop Elements. (The earlier version from several years ago, I used a dry brush filter.) Thanks for stopping by and looking at my pictures! :)
