"Winter Evening" from the Cleveland Museum of Arts seems like a good way to round out the month of February this year. It seems like the winter pictured is a little milder than what we've been experiencing. Thanks for stopping by and looking at my pictures! :)

"Nine-Dragon Falls" by Han Unpyeong (Graphic Novel filter)
I really liked this piece from the Cleveland Museum of Arts, entitled: "Nine-Dragon Falls". The parts I'm not so crazy about are the ones that have been damaged due to the age of the paper, or maybe water, etc. If enough time were invested, this could be cleaned up, but it would take some work. This is the 'less worked over' version. Thanks for stopping by and looking at my pictures! :)

Eugene Bléry after Meindert Hobbema (Graphic Novel filter)
This piece from the Cleveland Museum of Arts was entitled: "Groups of Various Plants Drawn After Nature: No. 7, 1855". While it is a descriptive title, it's not all that specific to what you see in the picture, which is actually TREES and PEOPLE walking and resting on the road. It looks like a windy day, and my graphic novel edit (second below) reminds me of the what the world looked like when Bilbo/Frodo put on the ring in The Hobbit/Lord of the Rings.

"Trapping the Bear" by Allart van Everdingen (Graphic Novel filter)
From the Cleveland Museum of Arts: "Trapping the Bear" from Reynard the Fox by Allart van Everding. This picture is part of a series, presumably from a book called "Reynard the Fox". This picture caught my eye, and so I wanted to process it. Thanks for stopping by and looking at my pictures! :)

Jousting Spectators (Graphic Novel filter)
From the Cleveland Museum of Arts: "Der Weisskunig: The Art of Jousting and Tilting, 1513-1518" by Leonhard Beck. I focused in on these folks who are practically on the jousting field. The one man alone in the center foreground could possibly be some kind of referee or official, but the others very much seem to be spectators with really great front row seats, possibly a little too close to the action. Thanks for stopping by and looking at my pictures! :)

Yellow Flowers (Graphic Novel filter)
For something a little bit different from what I've been posting lately, I decided to post a picture of some yellow flowers. Thanks for stopping by and looking at my pictures! :)

"The Coal Wagon" by Théodore Géricault (Graphic Novel, Dry Brush filter)
I applied first the Graphic Novel filter and then the Dry Brush filter to a cropped version of this image from the Cleveland Museum of Arts. Thanks for stopping by and looking at my pictures! :)

Detail from "The Rabbit Hunt" by Pieter Bruegel (Graphic Novel filter)
The original is from the Cleveland Museum of Arts. The detail (cropped below) isn't of the main subject of the image, the rabbit hunt, but rather the castle/church building in the background. Thanks for stopping by and looking at my pictures! :)

Landscape with Farmhouses (Graphic Novel filter)
I found this image on the Cleveland Museum of Arts, credited to Boetius Adams Bolswert (after Abraham Bloemaert). For the Graphic Novel version below, I first processed the image through AuroraHDR and then took the resulting image over to Photoshop Elements for the Graphic Novel filter. Thanks for stopping by and looking at my pictures! :)

"Village Wedding" by Charles-Melchior Descourtis (AuroraHDR, Graphic Novel filter)
I cropped this piece from the Cleveland Museum of Arts into a 3x2 ratio image. (The picture was credited to Charles-Melchior Descourtis, though the website says that it was made "after Nicolas Antoine Taunay".) I then applied AuroraHDR twice: The first pass was intended to bring out the details for the Graphic Novel filter; the second pass (pictured below) was a softer edit, to be used for the color in the colorized Graphic Novel filter version. Thanks for stopping by and looking at my pictures.

"L'Estampe Moderne: Fillette à l'Orange" by Louise Breslau (AuroraHDR, Graphic Novel filter)
This piece from the Cleveland Museum of Arts website reminded me of Lola, the five year old who was really disappointed that she wasn't invited to Princess Meghan's wedding. The original here, however, was made in 1899. I think my favorite of the edits below is the AuroraHDR version, for which I really like the color. Thanks for stopping by and looking at my pictures. :)

The Musicians, 1524. Lucas van Leyden (Graphic Novel filter)
I really like this piece, "The Musicians," by Lucas Leyden, which I found on the Cleveland Museum of Arts website. The people look like such characters, and aren't the typical "musicians" that you would expect to see in such a piece.

"The Sheep of His Pasture" by Edward Calvert (Graphic Novel filter)
The Cleveland Museum of Arts commented on Edward Calvert's pieces, saying that his engravings "achieve(d) the most delicate detail, so astonishing in these miniatures". This piece was titled, "The Sheep of His Pasture".
Here is the original image:
I touched up the original image first by using the Graphic Novel filter's darkness and contrast settings to create a clean black and white image.
I then processed the image with the Graphic Novel filter's "clean look" and "thickness" settings to create an image that feels more like a graphic novel image.

Detail from "Landscape with Two Pines" (Graphic Novel filter)
This Cleveland Museum of Art piece was called "Landscape with Two Pines" by Albrecht Altdorfer.
For this image, I applied the Graphic Novel filter in Photoshop Elements in order to lighten up the background.
