Robin in Blurry Trees (AuroraHDR, Graphic Novel filter)

It's not quite the partridge in a pear tree that you might expect to see this time of year...

In an effort to fix some of the blurriness of another photo from this set, I had applied the Dry Brush filter (some time ago). This time, I tried the Graphic Novel filter - after processing the image with Aurora HDR. Here's the progression:

Green Trees (AuroraHDR, Graphic Novel filter)

I like the Photoshop Elements Graphic Novel filter, especially what it does to trees, leaves, branches, grass, etc. The top image is the Aurora HDR version. The second image is the Aurora edited in Photoshop Elements. The third is a Graphic Novel filtering of the Aurora image, and the fourth is the Graphic Novel with the Aurora layered back in to make it a color(ized) image. I know I always say it, but I really like looking at the Graphic Novel images up close, particularly on images of trees, leaves, branches, foliage, etc. There's something ascetically pleasing to me about the lines, the swirls, etc. Thanks for stopping by and for looking at my pictures! :)

Trees (AuroraHDR, Graphic Novel filter)

I normally post my images at blogger's x-large, but today I posted them at full-size, so that maybe it would be easier to look at the details. I especially like the effect of the Graphic Novel filter (image 3, the colorized GN filter image is number 4). The first image came more or less straight out of the editing that I did with Aurora, and the second image is the one where I ran through the Photoshop preset enhancement options (for color, contrast, etc.) Thanks for stopping by and for looking at my pictures! :)

Aurora HDR Trees (Graphic Novel filter)

This is the AuroraHDR edit of my original image. I used a preset called something like "Dreamy Soft". 

This is my favorite of today's photos - the Photoshop Elements Graphic Novel filter applied to the AuroraHDR edit above. The colors were slightly weird, especially in the sky, where there were blues and whites poking through the tree leaves. In the black and white version, the weird colors disappear. Also, I like looking at the image up close, to see all of the little lines that are generated with the Graphic Novel filter.

Rounding the images out, I layered the Aurora edit (#1 above) into the Graphic Novel filtered version (#2 above) for the resulting colorized image below. The weird blues and whites are still there, although they are somewhat muted in this third image.

Mackinac Island Trees (Graphic Novel filter)

The original of this image wasn't much to speak about, a little bit blurry when you looked at it up close. What I liked about the graphic novel filter was that, in converting the image, it found lines to take some of blurriness away. I wasn't as excited about the colorized version.

More Trees from Mackinac Island (Aurora HDR, Graphic Novel filter)

I like wood and tree photos, especially the way that the lines come through in the Graphic Novel filter. I first processed this image in Aurora for the HDR (image 1), I touched it up somewhat in Photoshop (image 2), I ran it through the Graphic Novel filter (image 3), and I then layered the first image into the third image (at 10% opacity) for the resulting final fourth image, the colorized Graphic Novel filter.
