Orange Butterfly, Green Leafy Plant (AuroraHDR, Graphic Novel filter)

I tried a variety of different layering ideas out today, processing a photo from 2014 with the new Aurora HDR 2018 and then using Photoshop Elements for the Graphic Novel filter and to layer the images together.

The first image is the version of the original that I edited in Photoshop.

This is the Aurora HDR edit that I made. The "orange" butterfly came out brown, but I like how the leaf under the butterfly's wing looks more like a leaf and less like a white splotch under the butterfly's wing.

My first "something different" that I tried with today's photo was to layer the original edit (#1 above) and the Aurora edit (#2 above) together. Does it bring out the best of both worlds?

This is the Graphic Novel filter version that I produced from Photoshop.

First, I layered the original image (#1 above) into the Graphic Novel image above:

And then, I tried layering the Aurora HDR image (#2 above) in the Graphic Novel filter image.

Those are my images for today. Thanks for stopping by and for looking at my pictures! :)

An Inversion Diversion with Butterflies (AuroraHDR, Graphic Novel filter)

I tried something a little bit different with my process for today's photo.

Here is the edited (Photoshop) original:

Here is the Graphic Novel filtered version that I made using the Aurora HDR file in Photoshop:

I inverted the above image:

Here, I layered the original file into the regular Graphic Novel filtered version:

Here, I layered the original file into the inversion of the Graphic Novel filter (at 10% opacity.)

Revisiting an Orange and Black Butterfly (AuroraHDR, Graphic Novel filter)

I was revisiting some RAW image files from our trip to Wings of Mackinac back in 2014. I had been shooting three exposures in an attempt to get a true HDR, but with butterflies... as they say, good luck with that. For this image, I took the darkest exposure and processed it in Aurora. I then used the Aurora HDR to produce the BW Graphic Novel filter. I went back and layered in the original color image from the RAW file. And... I think that's it. Thanks for stopping by and for looking at my pictures! :)

Pretty Pink Leafy Flowers (AuroraHDR, Graphic Novel filter)

I really liked these pink leafy flowers. I used a setting in Aurora that made the darker details stand out, hoping that this would help the Graphic Novel filter in its process. I'm not sure that it worked. Below are the Graphic Novel filtered versions, the black and white and the colorized. Thanks for stopping by and for looking at my pictures! :)

White Flower with Pink Stripes (AuroraHDR, Graphic Novel filter)

This is another old picture that I'm trying again in Aurora HDR. The first picture is the black and white graphic novel filter; the second is the colorized version, and the third is the slightly, somewhat Photoshop Elements-edited version of the Aurora HDR. Thanks for stopping by! :)

Pretty Pink Flowers (AuroraHDR, Graphic Novel filter)

Now that I've started using Aurora HDR, I decided to go back through some of my old photos and see how I can edit them. Here's a photo from 2016 of some pretty pink flowers. Thanks for stopping by and looking at my pictures! :)

Butterfly Plate

I like the fruit plates at the butterfly gardens and how they attract a whole group of butterflies. I've seen citrus fruits like pineapples, as well as bananas and melons. Thanks for stopping by and for looking at my pictures! :)
