Trees from a Phone Camera (Graphic Novel filter)

Of the three images below, my favorite is the middle one. This was going back a few years to a phone camera, where I was shooting pictures of trees. The first is the tonemapped HDR, the second is the Graphic Novel BW, and the third is the colorized Graphic Novel. What I like best about the second image is that the color does not distract from the lines and shapes that the filter emphasizes in the tree branches. Thanks for stopping by!

Deer in the Field (Graphic Novel filter)

A few days ago, I happened to see a deer up close (relatively). That got me to thinking about this picture from a year back when I saw some deer in the field, which I processed with the Graphic Novel filter. Thanks for stopping by!

Grosbeak in the Grass (Graphic Novel filter)

Today's image was a rather challenging image, and I may not have succeeded, because it is very easy to lose the Grosbeak in the grass, particularly when the grass has been "highlighted" through the HDR process. While the black bird does stand out (a little bit) against the greenness of the grass, there was something perhaps a little too green in the original image. The green is softened somewhat in the colorized Graphic Novel version, and perhaps too much in the less green Graphic Novel colorization. I don't know. That's my picture for today! Thanks for stopping by!

Winter Trees (Coming again soon) Graphic Novel filter

The more or less original edit is followed by the graphic novel (bw), which is followed by the colored merge. These winter trees are from last year, but the winter trees (and the snow on the ground) will no doubt be coming again soon. Thanks for stopping by and looking at my pictures! :)

Mourning Dove on the Post (Graphic Novel filter)

This mourning dove image is from a few years ago. I tried out the Graphic Novel filter on it, and layered the original color image back into the Graphic Novel for the second image below. I like how the bird is sitting there, keeping one eye on me without turning its head. (Or is it looking at something else?) Thanks for stopping by!

Inversions (Juvenile Robin)

It's maybe a little creepy, but I kind of like how the robin looks with the regular and the inverted images side-by-side. Thanks for stopping by!
