(Graphic Novel filter) Butterfly and Flowers

As I post these Graphic Novel filter Butterfly photos, I can't help but feel that I'm shortchanging you by not actually having some Graphic Novel story to go with the photo. I'm not sure what exactly a Graphic Novel about a butterfly would entail. There was a story I heard once about the butterfly effect, where the theory held that a butterfly flapping its wings could start a chain of events in which a much greater effect than the flapping of butterfly wings would be felt. That sounds like an interesting novel, but I've only got the pictures above. Thanks for stopping by!

Favorite Butterfly (Graphic Novel filter)

This is one of my favorite butterfly images, from several years back, which I have newly processed with the Graphic Novel filter. As something of an experiment, I tried it two ways. The first image is a single pass, set at the Photoshop default. The second is my layered image, in which I layered together at varying opacities three light to dark images.

Trees and Branches (Graphic Novel filter)

Arch Rock (Graphic Novel filter)

Arch Rock is one of the more highly photographed features of Mackinac Island. I know that I've seen lots of different postcards, going back... a long time. Late Fall Colors, Sunrise on the Lake (Graphic Novel filter)

A problem I've had with my graphic novel images is that the colors tend to get toned down significantly as I merge the color image into the black and white image. (I usually use something around 60-70% opacity, so as not to lose the effect of the filter.) The color image here worked well, I believe, because the HDR with which I was working was very much overblown. Here, they look quite normal for fall (late fall) colors.
